International444 gas
I have a gas IH 444 w/o power steering and last year the PTO worked fine and easily went in and out of gear but the last time I bush hogged I had trouble getting it in gear. I had to throttle down to an idle and it would still grind a little going in. I used it all winter setting round bales. Now it won't go into gear at all and it just grinds. I have tried to adjust the clutch pedal to cure the issue but that hasn't helped. The clutch doesn't slip and when the pto in engaged it doesn't slip, you just can't get it in gear with the tractor running. I have owned it for 2 years and the previous owner left it outside for years so I have had a lot of repairs and issues to deal with such as the brakes were froze up, etc. Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated.

Open the inspectioncover at the bottom of the bellhousing. Turn the flywheel slowly and check if all the fingers have beeing adjusted the same hight.
Adjust it to be the same hight.
See if there is oil on the clutchplate ? If so then the tractor needs a split .

Thanks. Is there a feeler gauge setting on the fingers? Sounds like this could get expensive....

First check if all is well inside thru the inspection hole.
Setting in the fingers is lever( all 3 off them)
But there is a setting for the PTO clutch. I normaly set it at 0.060"
