- 1997 Cub Cadet 7235 / IH (Sold) Dresser TD7-E/Cabela's LM55HC Turbo, Yamaha 660 Grizzly
Hi All, just an FYI based upon my recent experiences. I have a mid to late 70s IH Dresser TD7-E with about 3400 hours on her. Very nice shape and well maintained with a undercarriage rebuild about 400 hours ago. The original starter finally gave way back in September. I located a replacement starter online. The "ears" that support the solenoid would not allow it to fit as it bumps against the engine. There is no way to rotate the mounting plate as if you do, it will rotate and then hit the frame. Its a pretty tight fit. I even tried a direct replacement from AC Delco and I had the same issue. The machine sits on a lot, 2hours from my house and I work full time, so things move slow. I finally had the original one re-built and Boom! Right back in there, and it starts like never before! So, make sure the solenoid does not have those ears.

See the difference in the solenoid mounts. I hope this helps someone not to waste their time like I did.
