IH truck with DT360 engine does it have enough power?

I'd rather have a 3406E with 500 hp and 1900ftlbs of torque but I think it would snap the front axle in my little 4700 as well as twist the frame and blow the rear end out. What I'm saying is I want the most torque possible in the largest displacement motor and that USUALLY means a higher hp motor. This may not always be in the cards but I'm going to try and find it.


I'm also saying that dt530>dt466>vt365 or dt360 in the smaller international trucks. What I'm not saying and I think you are implying is that the any of those motors are incapable of being able to do work. The amount of those motors out there with hundreds of thousands of miles out there have proven them to be more reliable than any of the powerstrokes or duramaxes. Will a dt360 engine move a truck down the road and carry a load. It sure will. Will it hold a candle to a dt530E motor with 30% more displacement, 30% more power and almost double the torque in the exact same setup/load. Not a chance.
