I just had to replace the fuel tap on my NH tractor.. CNH part # E2NN9N024AA TAP

I was draining te tank to replace a fuel filter ( on top of tap ), and the packing was starting to go in the valve.. so i replace dthe whole tap. New one leaks like a seive.

I finally got the main threads to seal using copious amounts of thread sealant, and dinked with the fuel line nut and fitting for over an hour to get it to stop leaking. Threds were good.. metal line was straight. ferrul was good.. fitting looked great up inside the tap... just wouldn't seal no matter what. I finally resorted to putting a fat oring up in the tap and then screwing the fuel line into it.. that seems to have solved it. Just doesn't feel right to have to dink with new parts like that. Darn thing should have sealed right up metal to metal. ( The oring idea came from the CNH service manager..... )

just venting.... I was over an hour late for dinner last night, and then had to wash for 15 minutes to get enough diesel offa me to set down and eat. The wifey gave me heck for being late.. but i explained to her that if I had come in on time, there would be a 21 gallon puddle of diesel killing her grass out there in the morning... ( still no mercy... )

... don't get me started /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Not sure if it's NH or just the modern world's rush to get products out to the public. My most recent problem, besides the tractor that won't stop when you lift your foot, is the sticking 3pt lower arm extension on the D (and I guess the new DA) series. They use a roll pin to hold the assembly, but in time it causes the whole mechanism to open up and then allow dirt, and in my case sand and small gravel (from using a slip scoop) in between the U-shaped cover plate piece you push on and the arm. Soon, the cover wouldn't return to position, and so the lower links are no longer locked. Had to pound the pin out - what a job, and clean up the whole assemlby, drill it out slightly to fit a 7/16" bolt, and then reassemble with washers and a locknut. Should have been done that way in the beginning.

sounds like one side or the other has a crack. as long as the o-ring is fuel resistant and it dont leak i wouldnt worrie about it.
