I'll sure miss this oak tree...

I harvest trees from my two timbers when they die or are severely damaged by wind or lightning. When it's one of my elder oak trees I say a Blessing thanking God for this tree.

My father showed me tree rings when I was a kid. We had some 200+ year old oaks in our yard that died and had to be taken down.

I think of this Far Side cartoon anytime someone mentions tree rings.

If my not so good eyes are seeing your pictures correctly, it looks like some of those tree rings are 1/2" apart? Pretty fast growing.
