Back in the '60's and '70's in East Texas all the loggers used McCullough and Poulan was a second choice, less in demand saw.

Aso saw a lot of saws with bow blades hanging on log trucks. Never see those anymore. I think someone in this thread earlier asked why and I've not seen an answer.

I started in the late 70s' in the deep south and Poulan was on top in North Florida/South Ga. I think McCullough was on the way out then? Lot's of bow saws, but I never cared for em... Nobody I knew ran Stihl back then and I had never heard of Husqvarna.

You're right, I had forgotten about those old McCullough saws. I remember them as a high end saw , I just didn't know any loggers that used them. When I was a kid,, Some of these saw engines use to make it as go cart engines. Talk about making a go cart scream !!!!!

Hello All!

I haven't had the need to use the saw much yet. It wouldn't idle on it's own so I adjusted the carb a bit. It starts great cold and idles fine now.

I did get my girlfriend to use it to cut a little tree about the size of my wrist. She grew up in town and has never used a saw before. She thinks it is "cute". Not sure how I feel about a saw being "cute".

Hey, don't complain. Maybe she would think a new, larger saw would be "handsome". Girls that like saws and tractors are rare, she's a keeper.

I can't say that she likes the saw, but she was willing to try it out.

She tolerates raking hay for me if I need her, drives the RTV, helps build fence, knows difference between a gear wrench and a ratchet wrench, ect., but she LOVES checking on the "New Moos" AKA new born calves.

I agree, I'm not letting her go anywhere. :thumbsup:
