I'd have to disagree about the worst president in history, at least during my history. That award(?) still goes to Jimmy Carter, who let the Iranians humiliate us for 444 days. But solid second place goes to George W. for being asleep at the switch and allowing the worst attack on US soil since Pearl Harbor, and then invading the wrong country with virtually no allied support and no clue how to pay for it.

It was George Soros who had more to do with Obama getting elected than Obama being such a good campaign manager. That and Obama being black.

Not to turn this into an argument but most of the prep for 9/11 happened under Clinton. By the time Bush took office most of the red flags had already been missed. But with out a doubt, as someone who lived through the Carter years of double digit interest rates, he was the worst we hopefully will ever see.

Gas tax stays the same regardless of the price at the pump. Seems to me that high prices decrease demand so the government makes less money on high fuel prices.

I'd question the rest of your facts but will wait for an answer from you.

The government makes a lot of money off of royalties from people pumping oil from government owned land. Some of the contracts were poorly written while other contracts pay the government much better. So the higher the price of oil the more the government makes.

Are you including tax on the food you purchase, bills you pay like cell and cable, gas tax you pay, any tools, grease, I mean everything you buy? It is not less than three months and we do not get what we put in in return.

Oh well, I guess this is the reason why America is the way it is-Ignorance is bliss.

So now people think that our government is royalty.

No sales tax on most grocery store food in Minnesota save for soft drinks, candy and a few similar items. There is sales tax on restaurant meals. If you read my original post I included everything else you mentioned and the taxes I pay take three months or less.

I suggest you do the same back-of-the-envelope analysis on your income and taxes including payroll taxes - ignorance isn't bliss, it's just ignorance. I think I get my money's worth with respect to all of the types of taxes I pay and all of the services the government provides with my taxes. But I do hate the sales tax because it is very regressive.

There will always be taxes. All we disagree about is who will pay more in taxes, the rich or the middle class or the poor. In my state the middle class pays more in all state and local taxes, as a percentage of their income, than do the rich. The poor pay the least.

President Carter's economic policies broke the back of stagflation caused by the profligate spending without sufficient taxing by Presidents Nixon and Johnson. President Reagan then kicked into high gear spending without sufficient taxation, more than doubling the national debt, a greater percentage increase than any other president, handily beating out number two, President Bush II.

Saying someone is black or a reason they won is not racist. There is no denying the fact that Pres Obama won the "black" vote. But the "black" vote did not get him in office. There were plenty of white people, asains, middle easterners etc that voted for him as well. There simply are not enough black people to have elected him alone.

I say this fearing i will be labeled racist as well, but there are folks that are both black and white that voted for him just because he was going to be "the first black president". Many voted for him cause they look like him ever hear this clip?

2. SC doesn't have a state sales tax on services (to my knowledge), and

3. there is a state sales-tax holiday for back-to-school items purchased during the first weekend in August.
