I'm Looking At All The Major Brand UTV's

After some hand wringing I decided on the Mule Pro FX EPS LE (that's a mouthful). Was close between the Mule and Gator, both had nice features and prices were comparable. Will arrive in a week or so and I will then post some pictures. Now I need a bigger trailer to haul it on, any advice on trailers?

I haul mine on a fairly std 6x12 trailer. No issues.

This is #1 on my list after Internet shopping, including TBN. There is not one in my immediate area to see nor test drive. The only negative comments I can find about this UTV is its throttle response is slowish and the top speed varies between 28 MPH and 46 MPH, according to various readings, which I find hard to understand. Please keep us up to date with your experiences. Thanks.

Thanks bunches. The list price is $14,100 + $700 for delivery. Others on TBN have mentioned pricing a lot higher on UTV's in general for added things like: assembly fees of $1700, etc. What was your experience?

Well mine is the Pro FXT EPS LE (larger trans cab). I paid $14,700 and added windshield, front brush guard, rear bumper, front and rear LED worklignts, locking under seat storage, and a center console and wound up paying $16,815 including tax. Have 20 hours on it and about to do first service and VERY happy!

 Thanks. Sounds reasonable.

Don't Know if this is a "Major Brand", but they might even be better.

The Truck model is a real workhorse.

I test drove the 2015 Mahindra 750L version of the truck yesterday. I have never driven a UTV prior to this one, but here are my impressions:
- Really great bed. High quality materials. Too bad it does not dump as the battery is in a very difficult place to access below the bed.
- Excellent quality seats
- Top speed is supposed to be 33 MPH but I could not get it above 25 MPH in the ~100 yard straight area I had available. There is not a lot of acceleration- but adequate for a work vehicle.
- I did not have a rough ground area to test it in as I was driving around the perimeter of a peach grove. But the suspension seemed to handle the smaller stuff okay.
- The specifications are great: 1200# in the box and 2100# towing. Auto lock front diff. and manual lock rear diff. 12" ground clearance. Standard front winch mount and 2" receiver mounts front and rear.
- No power steering. It would be beneficial but not required.
- It was at a discounted price but did not come home with me as I have yet to test the high end Kawasaki Mule and Yamaha Viking. I like the standard doors and roof on these and understand they have better acceleration and speed. Although on the Mahindra, plastic roof, windshield, back window and mirrors are ~ $1200 - $1500. I did not test the short bed model with standard electric dump bed as my eyes were full of this long bed. May have to go back and test it as with the price difference I could purchase a nice UTV type trailer which would be better for hauling but hamper maneuverability.

Also bought a 2010 Polaris Ranger XP 800...now in sixth year and it has been great! Nothing but normal maintenance needed to date. If I bought new today I would want the power steering...particularly when turning around in narrow trail or a small space :)

I usually stop and look at new models every couple of years and no particular interest in upgrading...however, stopped a couple of weeks ago at an out of town dealer and just may need to visit my dealer and take another look at the 2016/2017s...cumulative annual updates are starting to make a difference. Take a look at Polaris...they are the UTV leader. TMR

All these vehicles listed are good units and have been battle tested by the members here and passed the test. I think you will enjoy whichever brand you decide on. Just one thing to add here, and that is the one thing I would really insist on is power steering. When you get into that tight spot, and need to jockey around a it, you will be glad you have it, if you have a big load on it, you will be twice as glad.
