I can only speak for what I'd do if it was my dog. I would put him in a fence and not let him anywhere near the sheep or the children.

I'd find it very difficult to kill a dog that loves me.

However I'm not you and you are the best judge of your alternatives.

I had to relieve one of my boys of his pain today, he had gotten old and his legs were giving out on him. I couldn't let him lose his dignity and suffer like that. I took him to my vet and held him in my arms and spoke to him quietly while she gave him the shot. It was very peaceful and he died knowing he was loved. I could never sneak up behind one of my friends like that and shoot him. They give me unconditional love and trust and at the very least I owe them a peaceful death when it is time.

I took him to my vet and held him in my arms and spoke to him quietly while she gave him the shot. It was very peaceful and he died knowing he was loved. You have my sympathy, Todd. I know how hard that can be. Maybe I'm too soft hearted, but I've got to take our pup to get her spayed in the morning, the vet wants to keep her overnight, and I feel sorry for her because I think she's going to feel a bit abandoned for one night.

Thanks for the kind words Bird. I always hated leaving my boys at the vet for anything. I won't even board them when I go away, but rather have a friend house sit and dog sit.
