I've never read it either, but to condemn or laud any one generation for the state of the world is unfair and overly simplistic. Upton Sinclair wrote "The Jungle" in 1906 and each succeeding generation has been a little better it seems than the one before, but not devoid of blame in one way or the other, much progress will still be made and not all "progress" turns out to be good in spite of the best of intentions.

"My generation" deserves credit as well as blame just as does the current one.

I agree. We must judge each generation within its own context. Back in the 60's, one way to dispose of hazardous chemicals was to dig a hole, throw them in and cover them up. Problem solved. I've seen it done, and thought nothing of it. I also participated in the site assessments that required disclosure of the items disposed and their location. I also know for a fact that they were dug up and the site restored as best it could be...I was there also, understood that it had to be done, and approved. As they say..."That was then,...this is now".

Yep, someday today's enlightened generation will look back and say, what the heck were we thinking, just like ours.

Jinman

thanks for taking my post as it was meant to be
I thought some humor would do some good but I guess every post needs a negative response from someone

It was a great story Beltman60. You just know we over-****yze everything here. I admit to having a sensitive nerve or two, but that didn't decrease my enjoyment of your funny piece one bit.:D

Yeah, you're right, it did get a bit off track, and I thought it was funny also.
