LOL sell my tractor are you insane LOL. No I need that thing for my tiny little farm hear. It was my company that bought out the other one So it all fell in my lap. I am the one sorting through all details trying to make it all work. To be honest I really don't want the responsibility. My farm and my animals as well as my wife suffer for it. I really don't need the stress or the money that goes along with the position. I am sure that some people would love the opportunity to fall in their lap. I all ready hold the dream in my hand. Some times you have to know when to realize the value in living your dream or making more money and climbing the corporate ladder. There is a fine line between the 2 and it is different for everyone. I place a very high value on living my life by my rules. Stop and smell the roses as they say has very significant meanings at different times in a persons life. I am personally at one of life's cross roads. The choices I make in the next couple of months will change the direction of my life. These are the times you have to ask yourself what do you really want?

In some ways you have "good problems" :(, but it is really, really hard to make that life changing choice when your heart and head are in conflict about the choice and resultant tradeoffs. It seems that you are not happy :(. Hang in there- Jay

Hang in there Timber -

Sometimes those opportunities are more about the effects on other people - look at the roses as well as smell them, A wise lady taught me that with great success comes great responsibility. I am sure you will figure it all out.

Good Luck!

Wondered where your sage advice had gotten off to.

Good luck with the crossroads, in the end things work out as they are supposed to.

Charlie,

Nice to see you're still around. I've enjoyed your projects and look forward to seeing more pics of them when you get back at it. Hopefully you'll have some time this year, but if not, there's always next year.

You struck a nerve when you mention working too much and not having a life. I was in a similar sitution. I worked full time, then did side jobs on the weekend, or even after work, and had gotten myself into a routine that was all about making enough money to escape the life I had created for myself. I'd go on two or three vacations every year and maybe a few weekend getaways. That was always what I dreamed about. Getting away.

Then I hit a point and realized that I wasn't enjoying life, but just surviving. I quite my job, sold the house and moved here. Now I don't work every day, but make enough to pay the bills. I save up to build projects on the land and do them when I can afford them. That need to escape and go away isn't there anymore. Most of the time, I just want to be home.

Hope it works out for you.
Eddie

Timber:

I agree with Eddie, but Eddie made a good choice for himself and his family. Even if you love what you do if you do not balance your priorities in a workable way bad things happen  :(. I have been out of full time work for almost 5 months now and my superiors who really do appreciate the work I do are so afraid of my overextending myself again will not let me return to fulltime work (nor will my doctors) :(. I had my priorities wrong . Jay

I already know what I want to do. I have been giving this careful consideration for the last month now. I have discussed in depth with my wife and we agree on the next move. I know what I want out of my life and I know how to do it. It is one thing to be loyal to your work but but family and piece of mind comes 1st. Money I have and it is very easy for me to make as much as I need. Time with my wife, peace of mind and quality of life, once it is gone you can never get that back
