Smelt,

I think you made the wise choice. Just for future information the Dysart's Truck Stop just outside Bangor has a ramp that they will let you unload tractors and the like.

Enjoy your new gift…

Gary

Smelt,

That's a great story! I think you made a wise decision as far as the transport is concerned. $1450 for a new machine and dealer training on its operation is a heckuva good price. Probably the best deal any TBNer's ever gotten on a brand new machine!

Looks like you'll be FedEx-ing lots of Lobsters to Allentown the next couple of summers!:D

Smelt, WOW dude that is some Independance day gift.... You are a very blessed man! Some great brothers...I'm sure the problem of getting the tractor home will soon fade into the background once its off loaded and secured in your barn.

I'm not informed at all about transport trucking, Just make sure you use a reputable trucking firm so you tractor just doesn't disappear into thin air... Once you consider time and exspenses and a case of nerves paying a few dollars may be worth it.... :D

Congratulations on the tractor!!! SO:cool:

You are truly blessed to have such a family. (I'm sure you already know that!) I'm also very lucky to have a great loving family.... but I still haven't got my tractor yet!! Good luck with the new tractor and be sure to tell us how it works out for you.

I don't believe anyone mentioned that you can often find someone to haul a tractor on "Yestertays Tractors" site by posting in the "Hauling Schedule" section. Although in the big picture of things the method you have selected is not a bad idea at all.

A fellow TBNer Tat2z69 was hauling tractors for a fee, you might try pm-ing him and see what his schedule is. He lives in Pennsylvania.

I would look into renting the uhaul 6x12 open trailer (with full tailgate) at a local spot. I just trailered a L2900 with a rented trailer with no issues. Tractor with FEL just fit in the trailer and I was under the 4400 lbs pay load.
I towed the tractor home with a Toyota Sequoia. (a toy compared to a F250)

You may email me with any questions. You can always rent from the same location in NH if you need to.
