I'm getting three or four of those a day now. Must be the newest angle.

That, and .pdf attachments.

Many, though, are not phishing scams. They're worms and viruses. I cannot fathom what kind of personality gets a kick out of vandalizing others' computers.

I get a call about every two weeks that shows on my caller id as my name and number.Phone co.says they're working on it.

Any time I get a call from a "charity" asking for money I tell them the same thing. "I have given money to you in the past BUT when I recieve an unsolicited telephone call from any charity asking for money I take them off my list and never give money to that charity again." Then I ask the caller if they understand what I told them. Then I hang up.

The only exception to this rule is the local Red Cross telling me when a blood drive is on.

What scares me is the older people who get calls from these people. Some can get confused and give out information they shouldn't.

You'll even get callers who say they're the "State Troopers Association" or a local police association asking for money for officers' widows and orphans or some such.

I love to get those calls. I stop their pitch and tell them how lucky I feel because I need them to check out some suspicious activity or control speeders on my road, yada, yada, yada... I don't give them a chance to get a word in edgewise. When they finally do, it's always to tell me that they are not the police. I follow that by asking them why they didn't tell me they were a scam in the first place? ...click...hmmm... I'm really starved for entertainment. :D :D

And when I get normal telemarketer calls, I ask them for their drivers license number, social security number, telephone number, address, kids names...what fun!

That sounds to me like a good way to handle it, Jim.:D

I have recently been getting emails and the sender is listed as me. To me from me. I know I'm getting old but I don't think I have to send myself email to remember something yet.

Yeah, that is fun, isn't it...

I like to do the thing about this call being against Federal Law and I have to report it...etc, etc.

Bird has probaly heard this one too: they imply that if you contribute to the "Troopers Association" you get a sticker to put on your car- and then, if you are pulled over, the police look the other way.
Yep, I left the scene of that murder and they never questioned me because of my sticker. :D
