Warning, there are NO pictures!!!

We had a slab of concrete that was 8 foot wide and 16 feet long, a little over 8 inches thick. ( I think it was the left over concrete fro another project)

My wife wanted it out, so she slid the fel bucket under one end and curled. Nothing. Then she did the same and pulled back in reverse. Pop came a 8' by 4' chunk. She then picked this up and flip dropped it; breaking it into four smaller peices. A few minutes later, all the slab was gone...

Sounds like she is having all the fun /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Excellent! It's great to see the everyone is enjoying their seat time and no one feels cheated for missing the "character building" exercise of removing it with a sledgehammer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I removed a "sidewalk to nowhere" from my backyard with my 2210 about a year ago. Of course it took a little more time. My wife was no help at all until I was hungry and thirsty from the work.

Mike, the real questions are whether your better half stood around for an hour afterwards drinking a beer while admiring her work, called up her buddies to talk about the project, then logged on to an Internet tractor discussion board to tell the tale. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Huh - I thought I was the only one - usually the first thing I think of after a feat with my machine.

"Picked this up and flip dropped it"...an 8'X4' chunk of eight inch thick concrete..... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've been doing a lot of concrete removal, hauling the old stuff out and preparing forms for putting down about 6 yards of new concrete. According to my rough calculations a chunk the size you mention would weight about 3000 lbs. My 4210/420 FEL draws the line at 1100 lbs. What are you feeding your JD?

Without looking at all the specs... gosh I get sick of specs... the reality is that you're probably quoting the lift capacity to full height? I don't know what my quoted lift capacity is to full height, but I've easily lifted 2000lb rocks high enough to transport them to my rock pile. And IF I can't pick em up, I sure can flip them easily. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'll bet the 420 will lift more than you think it will.

Take Care,

Well... instead of spec numbers, as they say - a picture is worth a thousand words. Not real good resolution, but here are the lift and rollback charts for a 430 mounted to a 4310. The left hand chart is lift - the solid line is at the pivot pin, the dashed line is 550mm forward (basically the front of the bucket). Note the values are metric, the height is the vertical axis, the horizontal axis represents lift. As you can see, even a mid-sized loader can boost a lot off the ground.

I thought for a minute that you had posted the growth chart from my 410k from last year /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
