You only need to comparison shop for those things which aren't made by Woods :D I've been super-impressed with everything of theirs and I've never heard anything bad on them. Woods actually used to make some Kubota implements.

Don't talk to very many of the guys who own the Woods MD172 brush choppers then:(

Can't say I have Robert... what seems to be the trouble with those?

Gearbox problems is the main issue with them.

A "trusted" dealer who does sell Woods products implied to me that Woods rotary cutters were no longer of the same quality as they used to be. He has received a lot of complaints from Woods rotary cutter owners who bought new Woods rotary cutters recently :(. Jay

FWJ has had problems with his newer Woods as well as his MD Woods. I have no idea why or how Woods could justify cheapening their brush cutter line but it has turned a lot of people away from their mowers now.

I have a Woods rotary cutter, Walco cultivator, Kodiak landscape rake and Maybridge chain harrow. They are all doing their job well. I'm very partial to Woods because the couple of times I have asked them a question by email - I have gotten a response back immediately. They've been very helpful.

That said, given the number of hours I put on, its often not going to make sense for me to buy top quality. I've been quite happy with the other stuff I've bought as well - for my needs.

If I were buying a backhoe for example or something complex of that nature, Woods is probably the only third party that I would consider because I feel comfortable enough with them through my other dealings. Not to suggest that others aren't just as good.

When the time comes for a new implement for us, we check out the woods & landpride. The woods core aerator was much stronger and had two more center gussets than the landpride. The landpride landscape rake and rotary cutter design impressed me so i chose them over the woods, no regrets.

I purchased a Kuhn 60" tiller ($1700) after doing much research, I found them to be well built. They are solid and after tilling for over a year with it, I agree. Not a single issue and I have used it quite a bit. My concern when purchasing it was the availibility of parts for it but as of yet, I have not needed parts and I have turned up a few basketball sized rocks with it that were well hidded...
