Implement for making rows??

I have been researching implements for my Kubota B3300SU tractor for creating rows in my garden. I have a 3 point tiller and a box scraper with ripper teeth. I am creating a new garden space that was formerly lawn. My plan is to rip the grass up real good with the scraper then till it good. I need something to create rows I don't want to do that by hand. Can I tilt my box scraper enough to create rows? I have the skills to build weld a implement bar to attach some discs etc is that the best way to go? Where can I buy the attachments for the bar? Where I live is not a big farming community so implements are not plentiful. I am in SW Washington and I have some great soil with little to no rocks. I have dug about 600' of trench for water and power and never really hit any rocks bigger than a baseball and very few of those.

I saw a guy on youtube using a tilt blade scraper to create rows. The scraper is of interest to me for occasional snow removal. We usually don't get enough snow to worry about but every few years I have to clear the snow or we can't get in and out of our driveway it is steep in a couple spots and 1/4 mile long. I have been using the loader bucket to remove snow so far and it works but not great.

I also have a backhoe attachment that I use for other stuff but I don.t think it would work that great for making rows. I don't want to spend more than necessary what is the best way to go?

If the spacing of your wheels and the outer tines of a one row cultivator are the same or can be made to match you can remove the other tines, make your first two rows, then put the front wheel in one of them and make more rows until you're done. You'll need to alternate between which front wheel you put in the previous row as you go back and forth.

kids....lots of kids. lol The terminology can vary from one part of the country to the other. Locally here the sweeps you are looking for would be just that, ditcher sweeps (furrower sweep). They can typically be mounted on a conventional diamond bar standard. I could see where you could make that work on a box blade if you had the appropriate standard to put in place of the ripper, or build something to interface in place of the ripper point that would hold a ditcher sweep.

I guess the important question would be rows for what..?? Other than potatoes, all you need to do is basically "mark" rows for sweet corn beans, etc. And the second question would be, what do you intend to be weeding between rows with..?? Tiller, 3 pt. cultivator..??

A tool bar with shanks and small narrow shovels will make most. Just have to set them to the right spacing for what you intend to use to keep the weeds down. If you're going to till between rows, allow some swing room of the tiller, so you don't till your crop. A little turn on the steering wheel can swing a tiller more than you realize.

A middle buster like above for potatoes to make a furrow, and if you run along side the furrow, it will cover them. Unless you want to get another tool bar, and make a hiller.

If you are not doing acres, a makeshift job can get furrows made now while you look for a real toolbar setup for next year.

Make a V shaped device (or buy some furrower sweeps) that will clamp on some or all of your box blade scarifiers. Or make a new shank to fit the scarifier mounting slots.

Here is a very simple tool bar that could hold discs or sweeps for large or small hills.

If you are not doing acres, a makeshift job can get furrows made now while you look for a real toolbar setup for next year.

I just looked in my metal rack and I have everything I need to make a bar like the one you showed in that link. Where can I get the furrow sweeps and disc setup. I have called a couple tractor places close by and they said they would have to order something in. I am thinking if they order something in I will pay double is there a good online source on the West Coast to source this stuff so I don't have to pay a bunch of shipping on heavy items?

I also like the idea of using my box scraper ripper slots but since I have the steel I may just make a tool bar.

As far as what I am planting a little of everything corn, tomatoes, green beans, squash, okra, Etc. I want to plant in a row for watering. As you can tell I am not a farmer but I have grown many gardens over the years. I have never had the equipment or the room for this size garden. I volunteer at our local food bank so I plan to grow as much as I can because it will not go to waist.

I find it frustrating you can't buy common farming items around here. Have you tried any of the dealers in the Portland to Salem area? More serious farming is done down there.

Once you have a tool bar it opens up lots of options besides just hiller/bedder discs...make the tool bar wide enough to add some 'S' tines to sweep behind the rear tires...Tillage Tools, Tillage Parts, Sweeps, Plows, Disc Blades, Hillers

An adaption for the tool bar could even be made to hold a (hobby farmer) planter...Earthway Garden Seeder, Precision Garden Seeder, Earthway Seeder

lots of options for a dedicated tool bar...Good Luck...

I looked all over but found the best prices for hilling discs at AgriSupply. The shipping was reasonable as well and they arrived in a few days. They are in Georgia or somewhere in that area. They have a great website.

Thanks for the links I am slowly sorting this out what I am having a problem with is terminology of the parts so I can search them on the sites and know what to order. I have 2 pieces of heavy wall tube to use. One piece is 2"x2" 1/4" wall and the other piece is 2"x3" rectangle 1/4" wall neither piece is long enough to make the whole implement from so I need to use them both one piece will need to be the tool bar itself (both pieces are long enough to make either part) and the other piece will be the upright portion of the "T" shape for the top link. I can't seem to find a fitting to hold the hiller disc shaft to the bar I can make one but I would rather save the time and buy that piece what is it called? Next question is I want to add 2 furrow sweeps but I don't know what they attach to or what that part is called? Another question about sweeps what angle and size?

I plan to build a simple "T" shaped tool bar that will attach using my 3 point like the one in the link posted earlier in this thread. Sorry for my ignorance I just don't know much about tractor implements but I have done a fair amount of fabrication and I have a machine shop so I can make most anything once I know what to make.

I just use two U-bolts through a flat plate on the round shaft of each hiller disc. Cheap, simple, purchasable, adjustable, and effective.

In fact if you look closely the Buckeye Equipment in the post two above uses the same.

I purchased a "tool bar" for the 3 point that had several sweeps. Two large sweeps for making rows and several small ones for cultivating. I never did get the hang of making a row without pulling up large clumps of clay. Purchased two discs from Agri Supply. Problem solved. The discs just push the already tilled soil into a "hill" without pulling up large clumps.

I till my garden and then use my lawn tractor to drive down the garden in rows. Where the tires compact the dirt are my paths, and the untouched soil between the tires are my rows for planting. The rows work out to about 24 inches apart. Quick, easy and didn't cost me time or money to buy a new tool.
