Has anyone ever imported a JD from the UK? I would like to have a 5820 utility from over there that is not offered here in the states.
I know warranty work would be void, but I never has a JD to break. Anyone know a US importer of farm machinery?

Something here doesn't add up, but for me, it wouldn't be the first time. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
What are the features of this Deere that you find that causes you to want this particular tractor? You have peaked my curiousity.

I recently imported an antique Snow Trac (Swedish made snow tractor) from the UK and have been working on a restoration, so it is not JD and it obviously not new, but I would say the cost is prohibitive for anyone other than a dedicated nut case who really really wants to deal with fun agencies that have no sense of humor such as the Dept of Homeland Security, Dept of Agriculture, Dept of Transportation, Enviornmental Protection Agency and US Customs. And believe me, you do NOT want to joke around with humorless clerical governmental drones who's salaries you pay!

You'll find all fluids must be drained which makes it hard to load and unload! You'll find that because it MIGHT POSSIBLY have been in a field where "mad cow" disease MIGHT POSSIBLY have been present a few years ago that you have to have the tires (in my case tracks) cleaned and certified, you'll have to post a bond for 3 times the value of the machine, you'll have to work with an importer to get it to a port here, you'll have to work with a freight forwarder to get it from the port here to a shipping dock where you can pick it up, blah blah blah blah and don't UNDER-estimate the cost. It is NOT cheap to ship an automobile size vehicle across an ocean!

Ya never know what Bob has in mind with his tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Brent, most people would suggest that your statement about me is too long, more correctly it should have been: Ya never know what Bob has in mind

Many might argue I have no mind at all! And I think it is fair to say that the lovely Mrs_Bob would testify in court that whatever mind I had, was lost years ago. (and that was again confirmed when I decided to embark on the Snow Trac project).

I wonder what makes this particular model so desireable. It's not on the UK website anymore. May already be discontinued. I'd bet money that Deere would treat it just as though it were any other GREY MARKET tractor, green or not.

I like the Deere's made in Manheim! I have a 2240 and need to replace it. The 6000 series is too big for me and I don't care for the US made 5000 series. The European 5620,5720,5820 have the 6420 look but with a smaller size. I was just dreamin a little and wonder what it would take to bring to the USA.
