Brandon, that link sure makes it look like you're right. I probably didn't even need to download BVRP's Phone Tools; however, I haven't tried the instructions in the link, since I at least have my fax working with Phone Tools now. Too bad Dell's support people didn't know about that link./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I first thought I'd just leave it aone, since my fax works now, but then I decided I'd just have to try the directions in that link, since it says XP Home edition. Well, all that did was get me back to that same screen asking for that file from the CD that doesn't exist./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif Reckon when Dell made their OEM modifications to XP, they deleted that file?

One of the things that irks me about "Support" people is that each one has a DIFFERENT answer to your problem. I have noticed this here at work and it makes me crazy. Some are wonderful and some are, well.......

I think that they are afraid to say, "I don't know the answer to your question." I is great when they do say that and say, "I will get back to you with an answer very soon!!"

Yep, Terry, it would be nice if they'd just admit it when they don't know, and then try to find out, but a lot of folks just won't do that; they'd rather "pretend" to know when they don't.

Bird, the above site puts someone with a computer problem in touch with "experts" via the site. You describe your problem on a bulletin board and " experts" bid to correct it. Apparently there is a guarentee and payment is via credit card. It was favorably reviewed in the New York Times about 8-9 months ago. The site can enable the "expert" to view your screen as you see it. I have no personal experience. I'm lucky, I've got 14 & 18 y/o sons that have immersed themselves in bytes and binary and solve all my problems with computers.

GlueGuy, Finally had the time to reformat and restore my cpu to original and that took care of all my problems. I also was going to just leave the win98 2nd edition but it would not reconize my linksys nic so I reinstalled me and it had no problem. I also was having problems with my cpu locking up on TBN after I installed our new dsl connection, but also a few other sites to, then it went to the blue screen of death from visiting TBN (cant be having that, its one of my 2 favorite sites /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif ) That is when i took the time and hours to do the cpu, now with all that done i found out the new cpu has just been shipped. Thanks for all the help to everyone.

Thanks for the link. I'd been to the Olympus Website before and knew they had the software, but when it came time to actually download it, I couldn't remember where I had found it. Then I remembered this link. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

This is the correct driver for Windows XP. It's marked as XP Home/Windows2000, but it's running on my XP Pro system without any problem. Now I just have to get my brain running on XP and everything will be ducky. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

I'm happy that link is still intact and the driver works for you. I think Bird said it worked for his upgrade to XP too. Cheers!
