My shower doesn't work any more. The thingy you pull up on to make the water go to the shower instead of the tub came out and wont reattach. So I need to replace the spout that has that thngy on it. I removed the trim piece (set screws held it in place) Now I am looking at the spout going in to the wall. There appears to be a knerreled round section which perhaps needs spun to remove the fixture. Or... do I just spin the whole spout. If you know, please tell me. Also which direction would I spin it?
Man I hate plumbing... I hope I dont screw anything up too bad. Boy I need a shower.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Most of the spouts I have seen are threaded on. The threads are normal right hand threads, so turn it counter clockwise to remove it. You should be able to get a replacement spout at most hardware or home improvement stores for a few bucks.

Rogue,

The only thing I can tell you is that on mine, there was a threaded adaptor that soldered on to the hard copper line. The whole spout then spins onto the threaded part. Mine had a standard thread, so right to tighten, left to loosen.

Most of the spouts I have worked on, they just thread onto the nipple/pipe adapter. Turn CCW to loosen.

Ok - I got it off. It was just threaded on to the adaptor that was soldered on to the pipe. I was unable to toally fix the shower diverter, but it will work until I get the second bathroom working.

THANKS ALL!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
