In need of some advice on land clearing bussiness

We've also got a lot of folks doing this on the cheap and under the table. I've found I loose some business to them, but I don't worry about it. There are plenty of folks out there willing to pay good money for good work. I recall one job I looked at and they guy just wanted the ground leveled so it would be mowable. He hired one of the "other" guys and they made an absolute mess of things. It took me about 4 hours to level everything and get it ready for grass seed. The next day, he wrote me a check for $650 and was extremely happy with my work. He also said he'd pass my name around if he heard of anyone else looking for work.

I wish you were a little closer to Louisville, Kentucky....I just got word that a bid I put in was accepted, and it looks like I'm adding another tractor to the fleet. It's a 40+ hours a week contract to mow athletic fields for a school system. Looks like hiring a summer employee is forthcoming.

The single most imprtant factor in succeeding at ANYTHING is having the desire to succeed. Everything else can be learned. Desire and ambition are from with-in. Sounds like you might just have what it takes.
