In the market for a Ventrac

This has to be a record for hijacking a thread. To get back on track, I like my 4500Z for these WV hills. I am not a big fan of rear discharge as it tends to clog the radiator screen as well as my sinuses and lungs. The new 72" side discharge with hydraulic tilt is a honey. The little tough cut is a valued addition too. As is the broom. I do not have a 3pt hitch on the Ventrac since I also have a compact utility tractor for all of that.

First stupid thing is loading dirt in a pick up to shovel off. Second is loading a pick up with the tail gate up . Third is the position of the truck loading. Fourth is she goes into the pile with the not level and in off the ground. Fifth. spinning the wheels.... jim

I don’t know why you wouldn’t load with the tailgate up. My truck holds a lot more that way before it starts spilling off. I was going to give her a break on hauling dirt on a F-150 and not using any ballast. You forgot to mention parking the truck where it requires a 180 degree turn to load. Backing the truck to the end of the pile so you only have to drive in a V motion to load is much more efficient. But the point wasn’t to critique her operating. It sucked but I haven’t found a better video. The point was how ineffective it was at breaking loose hard dirt. Had she put the bucket at the top of the pile and avalanched it and then scooped the loose dirt from the bottom it would have worked much better. Sometimes if I’m loading with my backhoe I’ll break the pile loose with the boom and then scoop with the bucket.

They missed the part when the REALLY attractive blond comes and unloads the bed with one of those cranky things.

Why put the tailgate down?? it will take the paint off and people get upset when you do that. and it is the only way to do it if you have a big loader, you load the corner of the bucket and the rest of the bucket hangs out over the back. It isn't hard to break loose dirt if you start with right way. ... you can't pecker around like loading eggs.... the pile on the video I could dig with my 4500P, I do it all the time in original ground, strip the sod off and get clean topsoil..... jim

That wasn’t a big loader. The bucket was shorter than the bed so it wasn’t a problem. People don’t like it when stuff falls off the back of your open tailgate either.

I sort of have a feeling that they didn't have a dump truck or dump trailer to make the video, so they just used the pickup. One slight touch of the loader bucket, grill guard or wheel to that shiny truck, or any other and they may reconsider that approach. It would become a very expensive load.

I wasn’t going to hate on them for using what they had. So I didn’t mention what an awful dirt hauler the F-150 was or how much traction they didn’t have with no ballast.

Like you said it was a less than poor video, nobody would travel that far to a truck with a less than full bucket. If it were a full bucket you would have the tailgate down. To sit and argue with someone is pointless I remember when we were forced to test our ability on different machines I was in the upper 3% in the nation. This for people that were out on jobs that were not qualified. It isn't show and tell on the job, you produce or you are gone the first day. You have to know what you are doing from the start and know what the machine is capable of and how to get it out of it. jim

Some people have a talent for moving dirt. Some shouldn't even try and others like me, get by, not because of talent but only because I am a perfectionist. Did I mention, In ability, I'm in the lower 3% in the nation? lol
