Well it missed us to. Left a fair amount of rain here. But we can get as much as 2 inches in an hour from most summer storms.

Being inland we do not have much worry from the actual hurricane - it is rain and the tornadoes that cause us concern.

So far, we have had some rain and just had power out for about 1.5 hours (it just came back on) - not bad, all thing considered.

It's been fairly calm here too. Storm went just east of us. Not sure what time the power went out but I saw the crews checking lines 10 minutes after I reported it. That's been an hour and half ago so there must be a line down somewhere.

Lost power for 7-8 hours starting around 7:45pm. A few minutes earlier I heard a helicopter landing on the roof.....I open the door to look out and quickly rethought that decision......it was not a helicopter......nowhere to hide:eek:.

Lots of trees down, closing roads and debris everywhere. Neighbor lost a carport......my boat was picked up off the trailer and placed in the pond....still attached to the trailer. I jump in the sinking boat during a torrential downpour to try and get the plug in it. Plug would not go, so I used a cork and some scotch tape......all I could find with a flashlight.
Seems like there was localized "tornadic event" or otherwise very high winds to cause such a debris field in the 2-3 sq. mile area moving south to north. I think another neighbors house was crushed as emergency vehicles were there until the wee hours, will survey the area in a few minutes....maybe get some pictures.
I will figure that boat problem out later today, good thing I have a tractor... :D

It always amazes me, some of the stuff we end up doing that we never knew awaited us when we woke up that morning. How was that house crushed? Falling trees? You still have internet?

My younger brother lives in Alatchua, Fl. He texted me around 12:30 this afternoon, that he had a tree down in the yard and was without power. Did not say it came back on yet.

Our power is still out and rumor has it that will be the case for over a week. I scored the last PTO generator from the Valdosta Agri Supply but don't have it running yet. Will lift it out with the backhoe tomorrow and hook it to the JD.

We had a lot of wind and rain last night. Got up this morning to no power. We had one tree blown halfway down across one driveway - and the tractor was down with bearings out on the final drive of the left front.

We also had a pair of pines leaning against one of our really big pines. Only problem was, it was laying on the power lines. Reported the outage between 5-5:30. Then when the sun came up we discovered the tree on the lines. Called the power company back and told them about the tree - said they would send someone to clear the tree.

After lunch (and after I drove to Ocala to get the bearings I needed to fix the tractor) We still had not seen the power company. I fixed the tractor and still no power company. I removed the downed tree from our driveway and called the power company again. This time they told me that it could be tomorrow before they could get our power back on.

A power company truck showed up and saw the tree on the line. He said he was working on the line next door - he had no idea our power was out. He said a tree crew would have to come and he left - without fixing my power. Thing is, he could not turn the neighbor back on if ours was.t fixed since we are on the same feed line.

I called again. This time, I got a little "stronger" with them - especially since the lineman that came had no idea we were out nor about the tree - and I had told them three times about it. The girl finally got exasperated and put me through to a supervisor. After a chat with her - the tree crew showed up, the lineman came back and now, our neighbor and us have our power back on.

There is a lot of scattered tree debris all around the area.

Our coop won't answer the phone. They have the people line forwarded to the automated number.

Doesn't bother me cause they are awesome and have almost 20,000 customers out of power. I know they will do the best they can. I think they have help coming from several nearby states.

Our coop had 30,000 out - by the time they had ours working last night they were down to less than 700 still out.
