Inboard boat motor question??

It only has a 21 degree deadrise, so more of a 'semi" deep V
it is a 1999 210 sundeck .

A 2006 or newer 250 SLX with Arch, Wow now that would have been a Gorgeous lake boat to find but out of my price range

Hey Coobie did you end up with the Chaparral?

If so how do you like it Is the Merc outdrive holding up well?

Asking because I bit the Bullitt again and picked up an older but well cared for Sea Ray 210 with the Merc 305/5.0 and Alpha drive.

Hopefully the Merc will hold up, but have only owned Mercury outboards before never one of their stern drives.
Also looked at a Larson with a Bravo 3 but the outdrive steering was beyond loose and would have needed major service to tighten up the gimbal and steering arm
At least on the lighter duty Alpha it was nice and tight.
Ended up buying a 2023 new 20 Starcraft deck boat with a 150 merc.outboard.

If I recall, my 1990 Four Winns 195 Cutty had an OMC outdrive and a GM 200hp engine. I never had any issues with either. I did add a whale fin and a better prop to the outdrive. It would plane-out and do 50mph with six adults on board. I also really liked the high gunwales. That made it safer for small ones. It could pull two average size skiers out of the water easily. I ran it mostly on Lake Erie and Salt Fork Lake when I lived in Ohio.

WoW Very Very NICE!

Yep, if going New everybody i have talked to says just go ahead and get the boat equipped with one or more of the new 4 stroke outboards.
Especially a Good idea if used in salt water.
On a used boat probably not a bad idea either.

.

Congrats the new Starcraft it should last a lifetime
I like the integrated arc /arch as well with cover.

Ran a Celebrity 21' bow rider for a couple of decades. 5.7 gm with an alpha merc. It was pretty much flawless. Only issues I had with the out drive was with the bellows (drive shaft, exhaust and shift cable) developing cracks and letting water into the boat. Out drive has to come off to replace the bellows. Always store the drive in the down position when not in use.

Mid 2000s bravo 3 coupled to my favorite gm motor the 5.7 350 mag mounted on a 240 Sundancer learned one thing to watch out for on that series of bravo 3s is the gimbal steering shaft bolt/pin, wears out causing the seal to leak pretty major undertaking to fix. (Really wish it had more grease fitting like earlier alphas) anyways If there's excessive play left to right and up and down on the lower unit it's probably worn out. Been told it probably won't leak in static position. My somewhat impartial 2cents on a merc i.o.
