Increasing 7410 loader lift capacity

Hello,

I have a 3910 4WD with the 7410 loader. It's a great machine and I love it. However, I'm slightly underwhelmed by the lift and breakout abilities of the loader. When I'm scooping into large piles of topsoil or other materials, I can overwhelm it pretty easily. It does have a fairly large bucket, but still seems as if it should do a bit better.

Does anyone know what sort of hydraulic pressure I should be seeing on this system and where to check it? Also, I assume I could adjust pressure by adding/removing shims?

Any advice? For what it's worth, the hydraulics otherwise seem very strong. 3 pt hitch is strong and fast, and loader speed is excellent. It's just the lift and breakout that seem weak to me.

The loader valve would have the relief, probably screw adjustment, if it is mounted on loader. Which valve do you have, loader mount or the tractor valve?
A long lipped or large bucket will inhibit breakout force. Also, if the packing is leaking, it would cause this without necessarily slowing the cycle times.

Thank you. Not sure which valve I have, but I'll look at it. It does have some leak down, so that might be a factor, too.

Overall, what a great machine. I just love the brute simplicity of it.

You need to know the relief set pressure on the FEL valve.

Install a hyd gage in a tee at the IN port of the FEL valve and check/adjust the pressure to about 50 to 100 psi below the pumps max pressure.

I am having trouble finding the breakout force and lift capacity of ford 7410. Does anyone have these specs?
