Front-End Loader increasing lift capacity on fel??????

I had to shim the pump in my 790 (it's actually shimming a relief valve so the system works at a higher pressure before the valve opens).

If JohnnyDark does up his loader capacity, I suggest he just be realistic in his expectations. It'll help a little bit, but that's about it. If you need that much more capacity, you need a bigger tractor.
As far as adjusting the hydraulic pressure on the loader on a Farmtrac...well, be advised I'm pretty sure these machines aren't in the US market any longer so if you do damage, you may not be able to fix it. And, increased lifting capacity will put more strain on the front axle (make sure you use rear ballast!!!) and the frame of the tractor which results in more wear and tear.

OK, I was thinking ALL JD's required new shims to increase pressure ?

I increased the pressure on both my prior JD 3720 and current 4520. The hydraulic controls sit on top of the transmission on these cabbed tractors. Could reach in front of the tire, loosen locking nut, turn the set screw in, check pressure on rear outlet and then retighten locking nut. I think it is more difficult to reach the set screw on the open station tractors.

I agree, hanging an attachment off the back will take some of the weight off the front axle and give more stability.

I use to use a rear blade (figure 400#) or a rear finishing mower (close to 500#). Although the rotary cutter was the heaviest (630#), it was too long for rear ballast.
Once I picked up a ballast box (I use sand), there was a remarkable difference. Before the ballast box, going into a pile of dried out clumpy dirt mostly resulted in the rear tires spinning and judicous use of the differential lock...that's even with a tooth bar on the bucket and one of the implements on the 3PH. With the ballast box, it's pretty much a drive and lift job.
If you read your loader manual, it emphasizes use of correct rear ballast.

Most gear models yes...But on the hydro machines it's a screw/ jamb-nut setup.

Jam-nut! I couldn't think of the name when I posted earlier.

can it be done?

This isn't quite what you are asking but what are you doing with your FEL. In my case, I was moving logs, I switched from a 1200# 4n1 to a 400# grapple for that job, it made all the difference without stressing the FEL beyond it's design limits.

A 2 in cyl with 1 in shaft, pressure of 2500 psi = 7,854 lbs

Up the pressure to -----------------3000 psi = 9425 lbs

A difference of 1,571 lbs. That is per cyl.

At 30 degrees push angle, you might realize about 1000 lbs. increase per cyl.
