Indentify this rotary cutter?

Hi all,

New member here, looking to learn a few things and hopefully contribute as well!

I have a Case DX33, looking to buy a used rotary. It won't get a lot of heavy use. I have found this one used, trying to get in touch with the seller. Can anyone identify the brand? Ad says it is a 6'. I've searched a bunch of Google images and have not seen any identical. Note how the bracing runs the width of the frame, most brands seem to run the length or X. The closest I have found is King Kutter.

Hard to tell from the photo, but could be an "International". They are made by Hawkline now, used to be made by "International Technology". I have one (ITC602), has been tough and dependable for the time I've had it. Heavy duty. Here's a link to some info.

Thanks for the feedback. I think Ken has it, with his clue getting me started I think it is specifically a Big Bee "A" Series Agri 72.

The owners manual for this unit says it has a 40 hp gear box. My DX33 spec is PTO 28 hp. It seems that some brands spec more than 30 hp - 40 hp for a 6' cutter. I'm assuming that I should have enough hp for this particular unit? Or should I be looking for a 5' with a lower hp requirement for hp "safety" margin?

FWIW I will be using this to cut field grasses on a 14% grade going up/down hill, some of that hp will be consumed on the up hill run. Wider would be better as I will be cutting about 10 acres.

6 ft is marginal for a 28 HP tractor. If you had to raise it up while cutting uphill, may get little light in the front end?? Ken Sweet

Thanks Ken, my gut feeling was that 6' was "on the edge" for my application. I think I'll pass on the 6' and look for a 5'.

Question about the gear box HP rating, does not not indicate the highest HP the gear box can handle vs a minimum needed? So 40HP is fine up to 40 HP on PTO?
I understand you may want to go smaller to keep the tracror front end from being light. I am not familar with your tractor, does it need an overrun clutch? I know my brothers 8N needs one when running a rotary cutter.

Looks like the International's sold around here. They are made in Ohio I believe.

And yes, a 40 HP gear box will handle 40 PTO HP.

I think you should also use a 5' unit. I have a 31 PTO HP tractor and have used that very cutter in the 6' size and it was all my tractor wanted. I now have a 5' Ford and it does fine. I have also used the TC33 to run a 5' JD mower and it was a good match.
