Indoor Pollution from Gas Stoves

San Jose just restricted new gas installations...

In time I'm sure it will go nationwide as did smog controls for cars...

Maybe, maybe not. I hope not.
Some California fads need to stay there.

Bellingham WA city council earlier this year proposed not only banning it but also forcing current home owners to retrofit to electric appliances. It's on hold for now but I am 100% sure they will pass it when they take it up again next year I think. I would be surprised if we don't see it at a state level eventually (which will screw me over).
Maybe, maybe not. I hope not.

so glad i moved from comunistfornia back in 1993. never looked back. my poor sister and brother are still stuck there.

that place is such a hole. Ban natural gas, ban coal, ban nuclear, remove dams. only thing left is solar and wind. when its cloudy and no wind, calif will be in the dark asking for federal emergency power to help with their problems.

While I'm all for doing away with burning things in general, eventually, in many decades... we still have to deal with the here and now. The infrastructure to replace all gas appliances with electric just isn't there. Most homes with gas appliances haven't been wired for the amperage. So there's the cost to the home owner of not only replacing the dryer, oven/stove and water heater, there's the cost of adding the circuits for those high amperage appliances. Many, many homes only have 100amp service and can't take adding those without switching to 200 amp service. California is the poster child for too many people in too confined spaces having too underpowered electric grids to support eliminating gas appliances in too short of a time frame. That's a lot of "too's".

I'm guessing you could put up 200-250 nuclear plants in the U.S., eliminate all fossil fuel electric generation, and eliminate almost all wind and solar as well. Then most multi-car family's could have an electric car for commuting, and a big monster truck or two for taking the kids to the fast-food, since most trucks aren't used for tucking anyhow.

Ah, but nuclear is evil!
Yes, it has it's issues. Yet if we had spent half of the money and resources over the last 50 years addressing it's problems which we have pursuing wind, solar, and fossil fuels, we might have a safe, viable energy for the future.

Things never get planned very well in a democracy it seems. Communists don't have that problem.

Lady friend manages a mostly electric condo. Electric water heat and electric furnaces in every apt. Big wind storm a few weeks ago knocked out power for four hours but their power was out for 26, with some now threatening legal action. I'm guessing the main service panel tripped out when power was restored and EVERY electric resistive heater in the place came on at the same time.

Ban on gas is in the paper/news daily...

The cost per kW is already high...
