Also, most rat snakes are pretty shy. Keep working in the house, banging around, lots of vibration, you will drive them off--then plug the hole

I've had a couple of banded water snakes in the basement, but this is the first time I've seen any evidence of a rat snake. I saw some evidence of mice around February and put out mice poison. So far, I have only seen the snake skin that I posted and not the live snake.

I was getting ready to refinish the hardwood floors with a sanding screen on a buffer. Maybe the vibration and the dust will encourage them to get out. Problem is the snake skin is in the kitchen which is on a concrete slab so it's not going to vibrate like the rest of the house.
