indoor spas

I want to thank all responders.
I do think that the cover is key in holding down the moist air that the spa will make when in operation.
My idea of skylights may need to be changed to a louver vent in the gable end as snow will be sure to sit on the roof and ice could prevent the skylights from being able to open.
I will be looking for units that are intended to be flush mounted into the floor and have remote filters and pumps and hope that they are less expensive than the free standing wood enclosed ones that you always see in the shows.
I will keep you all posted as to the progress of the project.
Thanks again.

Make sure that you create a very good vapor barrier between the spa and the rest of the house. Without it, moisture can find its way into the main house and create more problems than you want to deal with.

Also, in central MA, you may want to consider a heat recovery ventilator. Here's a link to an example. If you just exhaust the air outside, you'll lose a lot of heat, which you'll want to retain to keep the spa comfortable.

I think that's the key. An auxillary vent might also help. Ours is an outside spa and I will tell you that a lot of condensation builds up on the underside of the cover but since we don't have to top it up very often, not much of the moisture escapes to the surroundings. In fact, it's probably less than if you were running a humidifier in the home.
