I am new to tractorbynet so i would like to ask a question to all you tractor gear heads.
I have a Mckee 3 pt snowblower and am replacing the gears in it.
I can't find any info on this model out there
i have removed the gears but don't know what they call them
ie spider gears, beveled gears
i believe they are a bevel gear:confused:
are these standard on all 3 pt gear driven snowblowers
please any help would be greatly appreciated

Need pictures. There are a lot of different types. You're probably needing miter bevel gears but there are different kinds of them too. I would assume these are for the right angle gearbox. You're probably going to have to find the manufacturer and get the gears from them. Not likely that Browning or someone like that is going to have anything that will work.

You need to find an illustrated parts list to determine the part numbers. Replacing gears isn't just a matter of pulling the old ones out and sticking new ones in. They have to be set to a certain mesh (it's called backlash).

Here's a link I found on the web: http://www.yetmans.mb.ca/. Apparently McKee isn't in business, so you may have to do some research.

I 'blew' the gearbox on a 3 pt snowblower a couple of years back.

I traced the OEM fabricator down and recieved a quote of $900. for a replacement .
The firm, Bervac, located in Drummondville, Que fabricated many models labeled under different known names.

Needless to say I abandoned the rebuild idea.

My unit was labeled as a Yanmar but was in fact built by Bervac.

I have a 48" snow blower that was sold as Kubota model # 222A. They were sold to mount on the front of a B7100. It was built by Mcgee and sold as McGee model #220. It has the open bevel gears like I think you are talking about (not enclosed in a gear box housing). I really can't be of much help except that perhaps you could check with Kubota. I do have the operator and parts manual for this that I could scan and email to you.

I don't have a scanner at home so I will scan it on Monday at work.
