Having trouble with the ignition switch on my dk35- won't shut off- not dieseling - seems like the switch is broken- anyone had this problem? have to pull the choke out to shut of the engine! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Sounds like your fuel shutoff solenoid isn't working when the key is switched off. Your not pulling out the choke when shutting it off now, it is the manual fuel shutoff.

There is a electric plunger on them that will pull the shut off back it might be that it has went bad, I think I would check that first.
Do you here a click noise when you turn the key on?
I f you remove the passanger side cover and turn the key on you will see a lever push forward that is the electric kill switch shut the key off and see if it pulls back.
If it does not move back then chances are it is bad or does not have power going to it, you can unplug it and check for power with a test light.
Check it out and let us know.
One last question How old is your machine?

The swich on my 35 will fail if I twist it real hard to the start position. Feather it and it will work. Its these little things that bother me about this machine. bcs

Will check the plunger- didn't even consider anything other than a bad ignition switch, thanks for the advice. bought tractor Dec 2004- has 119 hrs. showing on meter( I think I have more hrs than the meter says, So my butt says)
have it on the job will check the side panel Monday.

Not sure how yours works but the only way to shut off my LK2554 is to pull out on the fuel shutoff. Its been that way since new and as far as I know that's the standard procedure. I think the newer CKs have an electric shutoff that closes when you turn off the ignition.

Yes on the CKs switch to turn off just like a car. In fact, my HST CK30 has no emergency manual shutoff.
