I bought an '08 L3400hst 4x4 w/QA bucket and r4's w/ wheel weights a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd give some comments regarding the features I like and don't like.

I've used it for 2-3 hours.

1. 5' rotary mower--no problems, hst is nice, position control did not bother me. That was a initial concern.

2. Moved some old stumps and a couple bucket loads of dirt--no problems

3. Got it stuck on purpose and used the bucket to roll myself backwards--no problems

4. Lifted a toolbar w/ 2 jd71 flex units into the back of the truck--no problems

5. Pushed out 4 3-4" diameter trees with bucket--no problems

I really like the hst and loader controls. I haven't un-hooked the Q/A bucket yet, but seems like a nice feature. I added a longer, heavier top link to the 3 point. The one it came with was too short and light weight. Power seems adequate for the tasks so far. Ballast is good with wheel weights and rear attachment. And the cupholder is awesome.

A couple negatives for me so far.
1. r4's. They came on it and it was a used tractor from a private seller. I'll try for a while, but I miss the ag tires.

2. 3pt arms. I wish they would extend for easier hook ups. Quick hitch could be added later

3. No tool box

I haven't tried my box blade, tiller, cultivator, or angle blade yet. And I'd like to get a toothbar and pallet forks eventually. I also need to put a new cutting edge on the bucket and add chain hooks.

Btw, the L3400 replaced a mf35 gas, which replaced a mf65 diesel, which replaced a ford 8n. I am enjoying not fighting the clutch all the time and not working for 1 hr with the tractor, then working on the tractor for 2 hrs.

Very good tractor.

I got my L5030 used also with R4s which would not have been my first choice, but so far the traction has been good. I don't use it in mud though.

Just took delivery of a 2010 L3400 HST with L436 Q/A FEL on Turf Tires (needed for most common use of moving 30 to 50 boats per day on gravel) and my comments are as follows, Love the HST, I have a tool box but it's tin and rattles (one on my 7510 is plastic and quiet), don't mind the 3 point controls, the quick attach loader is great but the rear of the tractor seems really light. Even with the tires loaded I need a weight box or implement on the rear if using the bucket or forks with full loads. My 7510 with the L306 loader wouldn't lift as much but is more stable when maxed out. The 3400 is a little scary. Good thing I seldom use the loader for other then snow.

I use an old set of 5 dozer weights. I am guessing they weigh around 1000# all together. I welded on some ears for pins on my 3PH when I am moving a lot of dirt. I leave the arms real low, and it's like a whole different machine. Traction and stability.
