I have a MF tractor with a Perkins A3.152 Diesel Engine in it. It has a CAV DPA Injection pump. It has 2 Bleeder Assemblies One in the body and one in the cover.
The cover base screw broke off in the cover. I got it out with a left hand drill bit. Came right out and it showed a corrosion stain around half of it. So cracked for a while. The base goes in with a copper washer under it. I got the two assemblies and copper washers from a co, in the UK. The only people with a parts list online.
I have no manual for this pump so my question is should I torque down the base screw, That the one with the copper washer under it. One is 8 mm and the other a 7mm. They are not supposed to come out , only the plug screw that goes in to it loosens to bleed the pump. Or should I use blue locktite and kind of snug them down on the copper washers. There did not appear to be any loctite on them when I took them out.

To bad u didn't do a search for me.. I have them..
I don't normally sell parts but if someone is in dire need I'll help..
DO NOT use loc-tite.. Just snug it down.. I think the torque is 125 inch lbs.. if u wanna torque it..

That worked well 2 new bleeder asm and copper washers. Had to loosen 2 injector feeds up on top. cranked till fuel came out closed one cranked a little more then closed the last one and with a little more crank started right up.
I have an electric lift pump on this because I had so much trouble with the mechanical ones. These engines are very common on boats and I had one supplier tell me the fishing guys change the mechanical lift pumps every 2 years . I think , since I do not use this machine much,, I should sell it,, The ignition switch has erratic contacts and the lift pump stops sometimes. actually just this once . But I have noticed I have to bang on the fuel gage to get it off empty . sign of bad contact to me. Or bad grounds .Of course the cracked bleeder did not help at all.
I hired a mechanic once when I was at my wits end to start it and he removed the secondary air filter and stuck gasoline wet rag in the hole. Started right up. But I will save that trick for when I am at my wits end again. Thank you pump guy 125 in # felt just right.
