Bob,

Thank you so much. I suppose I could just leave the old lift pump on and plug the holes.

Yes you could. But removing the pump eliminates the lateral (now) parasitic load on the injection pump eccentric cam lobe (you wouldn't notice the difference though). Just another thing to worry about.

makes sense to take it off.

Yes. Although not mandatory, it just eliminates another wear point. Just out of curiosity I Googled the subject and found this video that might be helpful. He installed a much larger electric pump that needed a pressure regulator, you wouldn't need one because your pump pressure is pre set to 5-7 psi, and you have a built in pressure relief valve in the outlet banjo fitting. I should have made a video when I did mine.

Bob,
Thanks again for all your input.

I have read reviews of many of the lift pumps, most have pretty bad reviews. Like worked for 3 months, or even worked for 30 min. Then I thought a pump made for OEM might be designed for long life might be better. First look was ACDelco, but they had standard fuel line fittings. I did find a Delphi "Universal" pump that comes with barb fittings. I don't see pressure ratings though. On Summit racing they had one with a similar part number, FD0037-11B1, that states 3 psi-27 gph. Is that enough?

One more point, my fuel tank is higher than the injection pump, so I likely don't need much pressure

A little history: Delphi was a division of General Motors, as was AC Delco. Delphi was spun off as an independent manufacturer/supplier, and later usurped AC Delco. All components are now made in China, but they spin this as "globally sourced". That pump you mention is meant to be run with an in-tank filter, so be sure you have a filter upstream of it.
This is the electric pump on my Mitsubishi diesel, which incidentally has no provision for a mechanical lift pump.
It is indicated as OEM for construction equipment and also has many cross references.

Having the fuel tank above the pump is good because it affords a flooded suction to the pump, but other than that it makes no difference. In most equipment and vehicles the tank is below the pump. The 3 to 7 psi is needed to keep the injection pump fuel cavity free from entrapped air (something you don't get with gravity feed).

Note: The pump I installed on the dozer only has about 50 hours on it, and three years old. So far, so good.

Bob,

I have a Wix 33528 fuel filter just before the lift pump. Thanks again for all your help

I got the pump on and works great. And easy to prime!

Follow up. Electric pump still works great. but I see I still have diesel diluting the injector pump oil. Tractor runs great

I have only used the tractor for 10 hours in the last year or 2. Yesterday, I pull the dipstick on the injector pump and fuel gushed out.

I assume this confirms the clearance of the pump plungers is just too sloppy.

Questions;

I assume if I drain the fuel out of the oil sump and replace with 30 W, diesel will flush it out quickly. How long will an injector pump last with diesel fuel as the lube??

Would using a gear oil last longer?

When an injector pump fails, will it damage anything else? Run it until it dies?

I still see my injector on Aliexpress, $183 plus $135 shipping.
Anyone buy parts from AliExpress?
How difficult is it to replace an injector?
