Post a bunch of pictures so we can tell you everything that is wrong with it and then also tell you to buy it.

Haha, sounds about right. Good idea though, this can turn into a mini-ex buyer's support thread.

Now if I could just find myself a pristine 7-8k lb machine with hydro thumb for $10k.....

That's good to know. I figured parts for case wouldn't be too aweful.

We shall see what it looks like

Okay, just went and looked at the cat 303.5. it's in better shape than the seller was making it out to be. It does have play in the bucket pin but the rest of the boom is nice and tight along with the spin bearing.
only leak I could find is the cylinder for the thumb which just needs to be repacked under the machine and undercarriage is nice and dry.

Maintenance is questionable, he says it's been maintained but it was also low on hydraulic fluid so I have to question that. It's obviously got a very slow leak from that cylinder and has been leaking for quite some time judging by the grime of it so I have to wonder how well it's been taken care of.

I'll throw some pictures up when I get home. It's got 3,500 hours on it and he says he wants about 25k for it.

That's a serious chunk of change. Makes me a little gunshine wonders if I should just rent

It was dark when I went so this is all I have.

Worries about it. Was low on hydro fluid but the only leak I found was the thumb cylinder.

Owner said it's weak tracking and the dozer blade won't lift the machine (he demonstrated both to me). But the dig functions work perfectly fine with lots of strength.

When I ran the machine shortly after track strength was normal and the dozer blade would lift the machine up at idle.

This concerns me. Is it just the low hydro oil? Swing seals going bad? Stuck valve? Yeah.....

Honestly it's in way better shape then he made it out to be, but I don't want to be buying something that might have big issues. IMG958213.jpgIMG958218.jpgIMG958219.jpgIMG958219.jpg
