install jd 445 rear pto kit....

hi,

i'm new. great site. anyone install a jd 445 rear pto kit? i'd like to take this project on. i do have shop manual ( a bit vauge to me.)

Welcome to the forum.
It is pretty straight forward, but know how to do good, clean hydraulic oil and mechanic work. It will be essential to know how to keep the oil clean, the parts clean, and the gaskets in and on the right places. Also, know how to tighten stud bolts and nuts in the right order and to the right torques at the right times.
That wasn't meant to scare you out of it, but if these things are a mystery, at least get some help.

Enjoy the ride. It should be fun for you to do.

beenthere's post covers it pretty well. Make sure all your parts are in the kit before you start. Lay them out and account for each item. Make sure you have all the stuff for the selector lever kit, inclding the spring(s).

Are you putting on the Cat "0" at the same time?

Deere is well known for the great insrruction books that come with their kits. Have you located a PTO kit? at one time they were hard to come by. I have the instructions in a "pdf" if you'd like to read through it before you decide what to do. The book is only 9 pages, but explains it well.

thanks for taking time on my question. as you say the accompanying books are great. found that out with mower and loader. spoke with dealer a year ago. pto available at that time. will contact them again soon. i got the TM1517 tech manual at the time i bought the 445. wonder if your pdf duplicates that?
