Install of Woods BH80-X using Kubota hydraulics kit

The dealer that has the hoe didn't mention this as an option, only a PTO pump kit that iirc was around $1100.

Somehow a brand new tractor kludged up with a bungee cord doesn't sound desirable. Actually, a separate PTO pump sounds much better, but not for 1100. If they can put on the power beyond for some reasonable price, even 300, that would be preferable.

THe valves are kind of hidden under the cab structure, but I wonder if I can just remove a spring or something. Unfortunately, I was so ignorant in buying, I didn't buy the right kind of rear remotes.

That bungee cord trick has been around a long time. What do you think a new two lever detent valve will cost. The detent is useful when using a 3 pt log splitter, and a hyd motor on an attachment, maybe a hyd post hole digger. It don't look trashy or cheap at all. There maybe a concern about QD's and detent valve, and if the QD is disconnected with the valve in detent, then the relief will activate, until you put the lever in neutral.

I think I would have the dealer put a flow gage setup on the hydraulics, and make him show you the tractors pumping capacity and pressure capability, with the BH installed . Check also the relief setting on the tractor and the BH .

I think if the remote valve actuator stuck up above the interior cab structure more than the 1.5 inchs it does, I might have a shot at securing the bungee cord, but with so little to work with, I better be drilling a hole in the lever or something. I need to get under the cover and see where the springs are I suppose.

What springs are you talking about?

What springs are you talking about?

If I take a flashlight, and look down under the valve levers, there appears to be some springs on the levers below the cab structure. I am not sure I an seeing this correctly through the small slits that the levers go through. It appears that the springs may be returning the valves to neutral detent. Perhaps I am am completely fos, but it looks that way.

If the dealer can't figure out how to run a hydraulic loop to the rear of the tractor :)confused2:), you can certainly do it yourself with a little reading here on TBN, a few hand tools, and some elbow grease. Alot of tractor owners have accomplished this by educating themselves here, myself included. I do realize that using a bungee, or other method to hold your rear remote valve open has been done since the beginning of time. Perhaps it's just me that wouldn't want to rig up a bungee cord to run my backhoe, especially if it's a new tractor. Getting it done by running a loop to the rear of the tractor is not difficult in any way, and I find it hard to believe your dealer can't figure it out.

OK, let me fess up a bit here. I need a hoe, and a dealer on Ebay has BH80Xs at a good price, and they are not that far from me, about 120 miles, and the price is quite a bit less than anything local. Combine that with the fact that the local dealer is a Deere dealer, no Kubota dealer close by, popular one for this area is out of NC, and I bought the tractor from a dealer 6 hours from here.

So, I call the dealer with the hoe, and question them and they say they can rig it to run off the rear remotes, but don't offer much specific info at all, probably because I didn't buy the tractor from them.

I have a friend with a 3430 and he is going to help me do the service on the tractor so I don't have to haul it all over, but I didn't want to tackle putting the subframe and hydraulic hookups on a brand new tractor with 10 hours, so I planned to take the tractor to the guys with the hoe. Information from them is not exactly free flowing, and I don't have much knowledge of my own.

They didn't mention any option other than using the rear valve outlets or $1100 extra for a pump.

Well, using a bungee or something else is always an option. If it were me, I'd do a few searches here using the search function, using phrases like 'power beyond' , 'hydraulic loop' , 'rear remote', etc. Spend a few evenings reading up on adding a set of outlets at the rear of your tractor, and tackle it yourself with the help of your friend if needed. It's definitely something a mechanically inclined person can tackle themselves....... especially if you have a shop locally that can crimp hydraulic hoses for you. If not, perhaps buying the hydraulic kit directly from Woods would be another option. I've done a couple backhoe installations myself ....... I'm certainly no hydraulics expert, but would be happy to offer any support I can. There are a few guys here who are intimate with hydraulics who are also very helpful...... who would no doubt help you along after you learn the basics of the install up front.

I think in your situation, I'd have the backhoe seller set the hoe up on your tractor running off the bungee'd remote...... then bring it home and do it correctly yourself.

What he said. You can add the Power Beyond loop anytime in the future.
