Many motors only have two ports. An in and an out. Reverse, if the situation dictates. Never heard of one of those (two) ports called a case drain. I could be wrong (for I know very little).

Many wheel motors have a third case drain port. Then they are set up specifically so that if they overpressure the motor, it dumps into the case drain.
That way if both ports on the motor are blocked by the valve, there is some place for the fluid to go before it grenades the motor if the pressure builds up due to the wheels spinning with the hydraulic valves closed.

Here is a wheel motor with a case drain at Surplus Center: 22.8 cu in White Hydraulic Wheel Motor w/ Brake 61375W8731AAAAA | White | Brands | www.surpluscenter.com

Hello,

YEs this is still alive - and yes I suggest if you have high temps this will drop by 40* - the oil in my opinion should not get above 200*. So you should be able to set up something similar - mine has been fine for over 4 years and I have 280 hours on it now - I am not mowing commercially just my own lawn.

Carl - how did you connect yours?

HI Saril.

I was on vacation for two weeks - back now.

In my system, I have two wheel motors and two pumps and one oil reservoir, - there are two 3/8" return lines from the pumps teeded together that go back to the oil reservoir tank, then the suction line to the pumps is 3/4" from the bottom of the reservoir to a filter then to the pumps.

All I did was plumb the return line from the pump(s) to the inlet of the cooler, then put the outlet of the cooler back to the reservoir - very simple.

As far as measuring temps, I put a probe (SST Oven Thermometer) I use for taking compost temps too, in the oil reservoir directly measuring the oil temp.
