Installing a D407 in place of a D361 engine on an 806

Hey guys,

I have the opportunity to buy a Farmall 856 with the D407 engine and wondered about the compatability of that engine in a Farmall 806.

Will I need to change anything in order to put the D407 in place of the D361?

I know where there's a good 5.9 cummins, but that'll require some mods to make it fit.

I'd like to try the D407 if it'll go in without any modification.

What say you?

I think it'll fit right in with little or no problems. I put the engine from a 966 IH into a 1486. Kept fuel pump, turbo, air intake, exhaust, and water pump on 1486 and they all bolted right into place onto the 966 block.

Allrighty, thank you for the reply. I'm trying to work out a possible trade for the 407 and some additional parts off the 856.
