In an effort to get my twin sons (age 13) a bit more enthusiastic about the chores I am assginging them this summer using the TC40D I wanted to install the fender mounted radio I had on my JD 4600. I had made a plate that attached to the fender bracket and ROPS on the JD and it worked pretty well although I think the reception was affected a bit by the ROPS. I suppose I could buy them both a Walkman but I want them to make the connection between the music they listen to (I'm not sure you can call it music) and the tractor. Unfortunately, I can't find a good location on either side of the tractor where I don't anticipate intereference with the controls. On the JD I just had the range lever on the left side. ON the Newholland I have the range lever, pto, FWD, etc. On the right side I have the joystick and hydraulic remote controls. I don't want to keep hitting my elbow. Has anyone found a good place to install a radio?

I understand the connection between the tractor and the radio but....

How about those hearing protectors with the built-in radio? That way their tender, young hearing will less likely be damaged.

I installed a fender mount radio on the right fender on my nh 1920.. not sure of your fender / rops arangements. Perhaps you could find an L shaped piece of angle iron and band clamp it to a rops, and then weld a small platform on that for the radio... this moves it up a bit and keeps you from welding / drilling on the rops.

I also know they make a cannopy mounted radio, that would hang somewhere ont he underside of your cannopy ( if you have one. )
I think you would be able to mount a fender on up there, if you just popped the side swivel screws out, reversed the radio section, so it is facing the right way when in use.

Here's a couple pics of mine.

Peltor Work Tunes works for me. Volume limit and noise reduction on the tractor noise.
