I was hoping to write my install up and share with you all without asking the Yanmar guru well, but I am a little confused and the directions that come with the kits are not that clear.

So...background first:

My current loader set up has what Hoye calls the HA-38 (Yanmar Tractor Parts HYDRAULIC ADAPTER - ADD A LOADER / LOG SPLITTER). This comes off the pump with a HP Hose to the loader Valve. The Loader valve has a HP return line that goes to another HA-38 to a hard line that I am pretty sure feeds the 3pt. It works.


The instructions that come with this kit are generic and are written for Koyker Loaders and it says the following:
Step 4. Remove pressure-side hard line from pump and replace with HA-38.
Step 6A. Install HH-626 (its a Hydraulic Hose), leading from the FCR-51 (the diverter Valve on the Power Steering) to the IN PORT (MARKED WITH AN
ARROW) to the HA-38 fitting on the pump. - This mean to me that the diverter valve gets the oil directly form the pump via the HA-38
Step 6D. Install loader pressure line to the EX PORT on FCR-51. Does this mean to connect the out of my loader valve to the EX port?

This is where I am confused....would all hydraulics run in series....for Example: Pump to Power Steering Control Diverter Valve to Loader to 3 pt? Or should I install a T at the Ha38 at the pump and have one run to the loader (as is) and the other run to the power Steering?

The power Steering does have the return hose off of of the cylinder dump into a port at the 3pt?

First, these are positive-displacement, continuous-flow pumps. The fluid always needs a route back to the sump.

So I don't think you want a T to send fluid to the steering mechanism. Since most of the time the other side of that proposed T is flowing through the loader and 3-point controls unimpeded then back to the sump, you wouldn't have any pressure at the steering's branch of the T.

Second, I can't make any sense of that text. But I think the new diverter valve has to be in series downstream from the pump. Possibly, it is logically a T and it proportions the fluid going through it so there is always a minimum pressure available to the steering.

Aaron, help! Is this description about right?

That last part about the return to the dip stick hole always gets me. Granted it will depend on your tractor model, but I would be in the same boat and wish there were a cleaner way to return/dump fluid from the power steering back to the transmission. I believe some models have a capped hole in the case that can be used.

A combined power steering pump and alternator in one would be great. The only ones I've seen are to big to fit...

Winston, thanks for unscrewing the inscrutable. :) That makes perfect sense. In summary mount the diverter valve as the first application downstream from the pump, in series ahead of the loader's input.

... wish there were a cleaner way to return/dump fluid from the power steering back to the transmission. I believe some models have a capped hole in the case
Somebody posted here that his model had a transmission inspection cover that he removed, drilled, tapped. I think it was a flat steel plate. I wish they all had some way to install a sump-return fitting that easily.

Thanks Gang....I understand the flow much better now and have plumbed it up except for the dumping of fluid back into the transmission and am at a stand still at the moment. In my model, instead of dumping back into the dip stick hole, the instructions say to remove a plug very close to the 3pt arms. The problem is the casting is in the way to install the right angled fitting they provided. I assume there is an extension fitting I can buy, but the local hydraulics shop was closed.

In this picture its the plug on the right near the lift arm. I am wondering if the one on the left goes to the same place. I have a similar problem as the pto bracketery is in the way though.

My old 2002d had a side plug on the transmission for the return. Would your 2020 happen to have one here. If so, a 3/8npt fitting will screw right in. You can screw the dip stick out and watch the return flow.

... and since this is a return drain line, it never sees pressure. So common water pipe fittings should be sufficient. Scotty, could you install a short piece of pipe there, then a coupling or elbow, common 3/8 water pipe fittings, to move that opening out where you can work with it?

Quick update....I opened up the left port and fluid began pouring out so I stopped...Will wait until Monday to get an extension. Since the tractor is stationary...mine as well change the hydraulic fluid and change the oil.....good excuse to go to Tractor Supply.

... and since this is a return drain line, it never sees pressure. So common water pipe fittings should be sufficient. Scotty, could you install a short piece of pipe there, then an elbow, common 3/8 water pipe fittings, to move that opening out where you can work with it?

I thought of that....but questioned my logic.....The return hose that Hoye/Fredricks supplied is rated at 3000 psi and so is the fitting provided and it comes off of the cylinder. I was wondering if it had more pressure that I thought???
