Instead of bucket hooks

I do have small hooks on my bucket, but seldom use them, much prefer to use the boom. I store my tractor/loader with the "quick-tach" bucket off, so I just put on whatever I need at the time, bucket, boom or forks. ~~ grnspot

I'm with you on this...my loader is rated at about 600#'s and I am more afraid of twisting/racking the boom arms than anything...most of the stuff I lift that won't fit inside the bucket I use the grapple on...I use my boom for loading/unloading attachment from a truck bed or trailer...if I had a bigger/heavier tractor/loader I would add some hooks...

One really bad aspect of having a chain anchor point in the crosstube is that it is behind the tilt cylinders which could allow a chain or cable to rub against them and scar up the ram or put a bow in it.

You should patent that! Simple and effective. That's what I will do when I have time.

This is what I did to mine about 7 years ago. The triangulated channel section transfers much of the force back to the rear of the bucket taking it off the top edge.

The guys who make bucket hooks tell me my loader bucket isn't big enough to handle them. Now I'm looking for something else that will let me lift things that are too bulky to go in the bucket.

Here's my latest brainstorm: The crossbar between my boom arms is a hollow tube. I'm thinking to run a length of heavy chain through that tube, and put hooks on either end. I can hang things from the hooks, and the hooks will stop the chain from falling out of the tube. Any reason that's not a good idea?

You could do that, but it will put most of the weight on one loader arm additionally that puts whatever your moving really close to the front of your tractors grille, if it begins to swing damage could result...

Before I enlarged the pic, I thought it was mounted to the level indicator. That would be a big no no...
