What aftermarket oil filters can be substituted for the Power Trac filter? It is a little tight getting a good grip on the PT filter but if I could find another brand filter with fluted ends it would be possible to use use one of the cup type filter wrenches with a socket wrench.

A couple of questions...
1. are you talking about the engine filter?
2. or the Hydraulic filter.

I just changed my hydraulic filter. 50 hour service. (425- Late 12/04 model), and I could not get mine to come loose either. I opened the bleeder port just a little, then used both hands,(I have very bad tendonitis) and was finally able to get it to turn loose. I don't know if opening the bleeder port let the filter release because of pressure, or if I just got mad enough to finally get it to move. It took me about 45 minutes of struggling before I finally got it loose.

My PT had a NAPA filters on it when I bought it used. The NAPA hydraulic filter is a NAPA Gold Fluid Power Filter 1551.

However, it doesn't have the fluted ends on it, as I recall...

K D No 2029 sold at your local NAPA dealer.
Here's three shots if I'm lucky, Incidentallly this is a reversible unit once you get the hang of it, used 'em for years in the auto bus.

Sorry about the Senior Moment.
Here's another one for bonus.
This is actually the weakest part of the filter, I took the shot for a better view of the installment of the tool. The strogest part is at the sealed end where the captype tools fit.
All th Best. Bill

When I seen Bill's attachment I wanted to look and see if my oil filter changing wrenches were still there. Looks just like my set.
Oh yes. I can’t remember whose idea it was but don’t forget to use that plastic Wal-Mart bag around oil filter, wrench and all before you screw it out. It really saves a mess that you would normally have to clean up.

Thanks Craig,
I also initiated the plastic bag idea quoting a 1 gallon Zip Lock bag, I don't do too much Wal-Mart shopping, but I'm guessing their bag is possibly larger, I'll go shopping and find out. Thanks for the reminder.
Bill.

ps Yes that is my KD tool. I gave my original along with most of my tools to my youngest. The present one is the first thing I bought after seeing my PT construction.
