Interesting observation with Kubota\'s orange paint

I spent a bit of time this past long weekend using a BX22. And a bit of time was spent jumping back and forth between that machine, and my red Case machine.

Something interesting that I noticed was that a whole lot more hornets and yellow jackets were buzzing around the Kubota than my Case (and not a result of digging up any nests). Not only were they buzzing around the BX, but also landing on it and inspecting various holes, openings, etc., like they were looking for food, nesting places, etc. It seems that the bees find that orange paint irresistible.

Maybe Kubota should include a can of hornet spray with every new machine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm, maybe that explains why hornets appear so interested in my orange helmet and chainsaw when I'm attacking trees! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

a study was done years ago that was brought on by municipalities .including yellow municipal vehicles. It was determined that yellow is the color of choice first amongst bees, hornets, etc.,. Orange is a close second as white is third place.

just cranky ole men, that are green with envy. Those too that like to swim without their shorts on, and those who use high pressure flush toilets

Yep , I was wearing an orange t shirt at a barbecue once, someone on the other side of a crowd of people stirred up a yellow jackets nest. I got 3 stings and no one else got any... got to thinking about it and everyone else had more neutral tones of dress .......Who wud uf thunk it. Bees are fashion critics /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ya know, I've never had a single bug or bee or any stinging insect get me while using my Kubota.

Do you figure the enclosed cab has anything to do with it? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm... Maybe more people need to buy more green, blue, or red machines. Oh, weight a minute, green still has yellow wheels and blue still has white wheels. Sorry guys. Would silver attract the bees on the red ones? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
