I don't know what design that kubota uses for a valve.. butI know there can be at least 2 different designs. On one design, the valve is rigid.. opening it a little will decrease oil flow in, and out.
Ont he other design, there is a spring loaded portion that allows oil in dramatically better.. while still blocking oil out. There was a thread in the chinese tractor section converning drop valves and i believe somebody posted pics that explain a lot better than i just did on how this works... I'll see if i can find it.. etc.

That said, while adjusting the fall speed knob did appear to have some effect, the original valve was way too jerky for me to consider normal.
Mahana - chances are you already have the upgraded valve. Even on the new valve, I do see that you can get it to be slightly smoother by playing wiht the knob.
