interesting saw safety

I've seen this demo several times in the past and I reckon it's a good invention, but I'd never be able to trust it myself.:laughing:

I saw this first a few years ago. Pretty cool.

My big concern is false stops because of wet wood. This was listed as an issue in other demo videos I have seen.

I don't know if things have changed, but as of a couple of years ago the industry hadn't bought into it (the industry meaning making this somewhat of a standard safetly feature -- not to say some manufacturers haven't started using it) because of people getting complacent (among other reasons).

I think this is very cool, but I do have to think people will start getting careless when they know it is installed.

Knowing your finger, hand, arm, etc. will be removed if you do not respect the machine does make you proceed with caution.

Oh i surr hope they dont make it a required thing. Im happy with the regular one for now.

I know not what course others may take, but for me, the $60 or so cost each time when activated would keep me from putting my finger in it just for grins!

So True John...But like allot of safety thing's perhaps it will come down in price.I see allot of videos and they don't used the guards either. Thats the first to go on my saw..

I generally believe in using whatever safety equipment is available, but the blade guard on my table saw seems to me would only make it more dangerous. I didn't throw it away when I removed it, just in case I ever want to sell the saw.:laughing:

Do you have to buy a saw made by them or does it retrofit to something a person already owns?

As far as I know you have to buy their saw
