Dealer Interesting situation with a Kubota dealer

You forgot Agco - they now have a SubCUT sized tractor - pretty much a clone of the Massey GC and you can't get a GC2310 equivalent yet. I looked on the Agco website and can't find it listed but I know it is out there.

One thing I found annoying about Kubota website is the inability to do a good search on dealers near me. It shows a maximum of three dealers, and it took me forever to get the list of dealers within 75 miles of me by trying zipcode after zipcode to see if new ones would pop up. The good news was that there were a lot of dealers... but way too hard to find.

I visited three kubota dealers and I got a very friendly reception from two of them. The odd one was on a saturday close to noon wich is the closing time for Kubota dealers around here (JD dealer is open untill 3 or 4, go figure) and I am sure they were ready to start their weekend. The best price and friendliest salesman was at the closest one. I would have paid more and driven farther to use this dealership but I got lucky. I felt like he went out of his way to get me a unit and he even got it faster than he originally said.
I guess the point I am trying to make is to drive that 40 miles and see if there is someone who can change your mind.

hee hee. For me that is around the corner! If I can make it to a store, tractor supply, or dealer in an hour, I am a happy camper.

Dealers are important, so best you get the warm and fuzzies from them. Keep shopping.

Like the others have said, it isn't limited to this one dealer.

I wanted to buy a JD from the dealer maybe 2 miles from me and he wouldn't budge on the price nor did he seem that interested in selling to me. Some of my customers that own several JDs told me that nobody buys from him around here.

So, I looked at orange. Again, from a dealer maybe 5 miles from me. I guess I caught him at a bad time because he was closing early to head into town for dinner.

So, I drove about 25 minutes to the next closest Kubota dealer and this guy dropped the price and had it delivered with a loaner RFM on it the next business day for a at home trial. I had the tractor for a couple months before he called me and asked if we could get the paperwork done... if I liked it.

For a non-tractor, but related story...
I've been buying a vehicle every 2-3 years from the same car dealer. I got a letter saying, hey we need Durangos, stop in for a price on a trade-in. He's 45 minutes from me where I live now.
I drove to the local Mopar dealer in town, about 3 miles from me and he said he could give me the same deal. I was told he would call me back the next day with my options for what I was looking at. Never heard back from him.
I drive by there every day and feel like stopping in with my new Pacifica and asking him what happened /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I agree, some dealers act like they don't need the business... and that's why there are other dealers.

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifThe best movie scene about how to treat a salesperson from H***, is in PRETTY WOMAN . When Julia Roberts goes back and looks up the snotty saleswoman, I wanted to stand up and cheer. If you don't know the scene I'm referring to, please watch the film. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I guess after 50 years Kubota has to still weed out a few dealers. Looks like all brands have these issues.

Glen, absolutely correct. Kubota, for the most part, has a well established and sound network. But there are a few jerks out there. This could be one of those. And my local JD dealer needs to take some classes in customer relations too. I won't take my JD lawnmower or JD weedwacker into that shop after trying to buy tractors from him (twice). One thing you will see with me, I would never recommend anyone buy from a crappy dealership, I think they are better off switching brands than getting married to a bad dealer.
