I recently rebuilt the carb on my international 140 and it ran good the I installed a ignition tune up kit and now I have no spark I don't know if I could have fried the could or I did somthing wrong with setting the points inside the distributer if any one has any info on this it would help me a great deal

I set the points on my IHs .015 to .018. And make sure the rotor is all the way down. That got me a few times.

When I set the points the does the distributer shaft need to be turned so that is on one of the corners of the square shaft is holding the points open before I set the points

Mine have hex shaped distributer shafts, but yes the points must contact a corner point. The easiest way is to "bump" the key. You may have to slightly adjust the point specs if your dis shaft corners are worn.

The condensor should be okay unless you accidentally grounded it with the ignition switch still on when you were bumping it to set the points. It sounds more like an improper gap setting or a loose connection when you put the new parts in.

Yeah after I rebuilt the carb and got it back together I started it and it ran then I had the ignition problem u hit the nail on the head I fried the condenser then once I got that fixed and took it out for a spin the engine was pulsing agin and gas was poring out of the carb I adjusted the governor and it seems to be running good now good tractors but can through you for a loop sometimes thank everyone for your help

Sorry my luck ran out I was out mowing and it was running good after I adjusted the gov then it started pulsing agin anyone have any ideas of what I should do to fix this or what exactly it could be

Check your float adjustment in the carb. If it was pouring gas earlier, that sounds like the float was set to high. I don't believe the governer adjustment had anything to do with it flooding gas through the carb.

The gas stoped pouring from the carb but I just can't get it to stop pulsing when it is under load it gets so bad when mowing up hill that it almost stalls until I push the clutch in then it will smooth back out for a bit then it does it agin when I take off do u think it is the carb or governor

Did you change the fuel filters

I'd try adjusting the governor back to where it was before, and see if that helps. The pouring gas before could have been a stuck float or something.

On this tractor there is no fule filter I thought about putting one in line only thing it had is a sediment bowl

I read your posts again, one time I did fry a coil. It took a long time to figure it out, but was a easy fix.

When I first got it going agin I had not yet
Adjusted the governor and it was still pulsing then I adjusted it and it ran good for about an hour then it started agin when under load I was thinking maybe the governor spring could be weak I'm sure it has never been replaced .

It's been 4 or 5 years since that coil went....I recall it idled ok but couldn't be revd up normal. Another tractor I have had problems mowing. It would bog down and slowly recover. I ended up moving the governer spring to another hole (if you have several) So that the spring tension was increased. That solved it, but Im not sure if that's your problem, especially if your governer worked before the carb rebuild.

I has always pulsed under load but it was not that bad before now it is so bad I have
To push the clutch it and sit there until it recovers I have not looked at the governor
Spring yet but when I was adjusting the lever it did not seem like it had much tension to it

It's worth a shot. While your hands are greasy, might as well install a inline filter. TSC sells a nice one for $7. They have springs as well.

I just got it all cleaned up and took the govenor out there are two holes to chose from to put the big spring in and there is also a small spring at the bottom it looks to be intacked I was wondering if it matters if I just move the big spring to the other hole
To creat more tension or just replace it it looks good no rust or damage. Just can't tell if it is weak I have nothing to go by to figure that out

Also to add to my last post what is that little spring at the bottom for I think it is a stop to keep the rpms from going to high
But I don't know for sure it looks like there is a adjustment for it on the in the governor housing.

When I adjusted mine, I left the little spring alone and only moved the big spring. I know the upper rpm limit did not change, as I used a handheld tach to verify.
