International 3414 TLB trans problem

I am looking at a 3414 TLB but there is a problem with the trans.
It will not go into gear. The dealer said that he believes the shift fork is broke .
He said it is made of brass and is easy to replace.
Has any one ever had any experience with this, I was told that it is common with this model. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

If he knew it was the fork and it was as easy to replace as he says, he would have done it already and would be asking more for the machine.

Test him. Make an offer on the machine and tell him you will pay an additional $500 to have him fix the transmission and warrant it for a year. If it is as easy as he says he should take it. If he doesn't go for it, he knows the problem is bigger than that.
