International 60 stalk chopper??

I have an opportunity to buy a International 60 stalk chopper 15 foot. Its been sitting for awhile, paint is faded, but it looks to be in good shape. Owner assures me that it was parked in working order. What do you think its worth??

When I do a search for them online I see one thats 1000 rpm, how can I tell by looking at this one if its 540 or 1000 rpm?? I need 540....

If the drive shaft has fine splines, it is 1000, if they are wider (can't remember the # of) and less, then is 540. Most likely a 540.

The faded paint wouldn't bother me if it looks like it has been maintained. Look at the grease zerks to see if they are dry or look well greased. Can you hook it to a tractor and run it?

Thats what I thought. I just saw a few on the net that said 1000 PTO, wanted to check.

Pulled it out of the weeds last night, greased it all the way around, added some gearbox oil, turned it over by hand (took a big pipe to do that!!!), then hooked it up to a tractor, it turned over ok, revved up the tractor, didn't rattle too bad, seems like the bearings are ok. Guy on the tractor ran it thru some grass and weeds but it bogged the tractor down, it was only a 45 hp tractor.

Think I'm going to buy it, guy only wants $200 for it, when I look do a search on the internet for them, some of them are priced at $3000+. If nothing else, the iron is worth $200.
